A surefire way for a hotel to win our hearts is to combine style and design with pet-friendly accommodations. As dog owners, we love traveling anywhere we can with our black lab, Orvis, but we hate being stuck in a pet-friendly room that lacks character and hasn’t seen an update in years. Thankfully, when we stay at 250 Main Hotel in Rockland, we don’t have to sacrifice a thoughtfully designed hotel experience to bring Orvis along – it’s the best of both of our worlds.
Since we’ve written about our stay at 250 Main in the past, I won’t revisit the same (many) points that make this art-filled boutique property in Midcoast Maine one of our very favorite hotels. The rooms are still brightly lit and well-appointed, the bathrooms still are stocked with the best smelling Malin Goetz products, the art collection is still vibrant and ever-changing, and the rooftop deck is still the best place in Rockland to sip a glass of wine while watching the day fade to twilight over the harbor.
Only a couple hours outside of Portland and home to some of our favorite restaurants in Maine, the Midcoast region is one of our go-to weekend getaway destinations. Thankfully, 250 Main makes the trip even more memorable and comfortable, complete with our best friend in tow.
